Step #1: Find the Grant!
You want to get a grant. So, what the heck
does Tiger Woods have to do Quite a lot, as it turns out. Because Tiger Woods is about more than great golf and steamy gossip. Tiger Woods, like thousands of other wealthy individuals, funnels a substantial sum of money into his personal foundation. In turn, the foundation gives grants to organizations that offer services to young people, as well as scholarships to students in his mother's native Thailand. Blues great John Lee Hooker didn't make the billions Tiger has earned, but he, too, left money in a foundation that supports grassroots organizations for disadvantaged children. Name a person who has achieved a level of financial success, and cares about other people, and you may find a source of grants. Grants also come from government agencies, corporations, and foundations. And not just in the United States. Grants are available all over the world. I'm Jillian Coleman Wheeler. I've spent decades helping people get grants. In fact, I'm recognized as the premier international expert on grants. I have a lot of information I can share with you, but let's begin with a basic question. What are grants? A grant is a gift, pure and simple. Generally speaking, grants never have to be repaid, and they are tax-exempt (this is where my attorney makes me remind you I am not an accountant, so get professional advice on your particular situation). Most important to know, a grant is a "quid pro quo" - "something for something." That means the grantor (the person or organization making the grant) gives money to the grantee (the recipient) to accomplish some worthy purpose the grantor supports. For example, a foundation that exists to serve senior citizens might give a grant to an art center to provide classes to seniors. In my many years as a grants consultant, the one question I've been asked the most is, "How do I find grants? More specifically, how do I find the grant that's right for me?" In my grants training classes, students pay over $2000 to get that - and of course, much more - information. But that level of investment just isn't possible or practical for most people. So I'm launching a series of new products, beginning with this one: Find the Grant That's Right for You. Find the Grant That's Right for You is a video lesson that we will mail directly to you. When you put it into your computer, or your DVD player, I will guide you, step-by-step, through the entire process of finding available grants. I'll talk you through the process of finding all the government grants - not just the federal government, but also your state and local governments. You'll find wonderful grant opportunities at all levels of government. I show you how to find out which companies give grants, and how to sift through all the corporate information to find out what's being offered, and how to qualify. I'll show you where to find available grants from the over 80,000 foundations in the United States, as well as foundations that provide international grants. To give you an idea of the quality of training I offer, here are some words from a good friend whom you may know, and from a couple of former students:
